We’re deep into winter now, and even though the holidays are long over, the spring still feels far away. If the cold and dark have you feeling down, you’re not alone! Millions of people find themselves a little bummed during the long stretch between New Year’s and spring. Check out some ways to counter the winter blues.
- Stay Active. Physical activity releases endorphins, which boosts mood and concentration. Even just 20 minutes a day can help! Make time for a walk each day.
- Be with People. Spending time with family and friends will help boost your mood as well. Plan exciting activities like a visit to Charleston Fun Park to give yourselves something to look forward to on the weekend, or a well-deserved mid-week break!
- Try Something New. Learning a new hobby or skill will engage your brain and keep you active mentally as well as physically. Why not challenge yourself on our climbing wall, or try to master some of our new pinball games?
It’s important to remember that the winter blues can be more serious. If you find your symptoms are more serious than just feeling a little down, contact your doctor, especially if you’re feeling depressed most of the day, struggling to sleep, or thinking about harming yourself or other people. These may be a symptom of Seasonal Affective Disorder.
You’ll find friends, good fun, and physical activity at Charleston Fun Park, so come down to see us and make your winter blues shorter than the month of February!
